BLOOMING FOREST is a proposal for a new large public space in Dubai, aiming to merge together the lifestyle by the beach and the lifestyle in the forest, having the facilities and amenities from a shore destination while being surrounded by leafy and lush nature.
Architect: 100architects
Client: Emaar Properties
Location: Dubai, UAE
Size: 12,500 sqm
Design team: Marcial Jesús, Javier González, Lara Broglio, Mónica Páez, Keith Gong
From the architect: With that framework in mind, we proposed a project inspired by the concept of blossom, comprising a combination of natural landscape and an artificial blooming of huge colorful structures mimicking over-scaled flowers which host a wide range of public space features and facilities at their base contact with the ground level.
The combination of natural and artificial blossoms generates an enchanting forest on the bank of the creek, providing eye-catching and entertaining functions and activities for kids and adults alike along the pedestrian promenade.
In order to enhance that enchanting character of the proposal at night time, colorful LED lighting features were proposed along the artificial flower stems, creating a glowing magical environment.
As highlighted component of this intervention, it’s worth mentioning the several wooden tree-houses that were proposed, which would serve not only as vertical playful structures, but also as human scale landmarks within the new creek’s promenade, from which to have awesome creek views.
A magical intervention for an upcoming magical destination in Dubai.
