The vision for the project Masterplan Esbjerg Strand is to form the framework for a city and campus environment that will rethink the approach to education...

From the architect: The new masterplan is informed by present environmental parameters at the site: noise from the harbor, dominant westerly winds, high tides and storm surges and sunlight.
As part of an ambitious vision plan Esbjerg of the Future Vision 2025, the city will grow it’s population and become an attractive educational city; have skilled labor for all; become a sustainable energy monopoly; a digital hub of Northern Europe; become a strong tourist destination on the Wadden Sea with optimal conditions for entrepreneurs.
The new campus will be the new home for a completely new education platform that will rethink the traditional education system and campus in the country. BIG’s vision for Esbjerg Strand is to create an entire city in one building. Education, development, and new communities will create the frame for a life, where the island with all its functions and possibilities works as a sustainable, human-made ecosystem in the middle of a city.
