This duplex penthouse was refurbished from the existing penthouse apartment in order to embrace the scenic views of London skyline and connection to the surrounding roof terraces to respond the ower's request.
Architect: Fraher
Location: London, UK
According to the architects: The new feature staircase and materials were selected to create a sculptural presence connecting the apartment’s two floors. The continuity of the colour and texture palette within the main spaces compliments the existing building without trying to detract from the panoramic view. The feature oak staircase is stained grey to match other items of bespoke joinery that sit nestled within the spaces. The stair appears to float and carves through the space highlighting this strong vertical connection as well as bringing light to the lower levels. The staircase bends and grows as it reaches the top floor level, creating a bench seat that defines the dining area within the open plan space. The continuity of the colour palette spreads to the external decking which has been re-stained as part of the refurbishment.
