From the architect: Casa Órbita is located on a corner lot; it has two coastal edges, a top towards a public green space and views of the lagoon; the house takes possession of all its visuals, enhancing natural lighting in the most favorable direction.
North orientation was prioritized, using a central courtyard that visually and functionally articulates the two wings of the ground level: One contains the flexible space next to the entrance hall and the transition from the street to the interior of the house. The other is directed towards the back front in relation to the public area of the house, expanding towards the swimming pool and the lagoon in the background, framing the landscape. All the service areas are located on the southwest side.
The double-height hall sews the two floors together, allowing the private sector on the second level to have a constant dialogue with the central courtyard. This not only provides an entrance of light with the best orientation, but also, together with the enclosure of perforated Corten steel panels in the front, provides privacy to the bedrooms and the playroom, which with its folding panels achieves an intimate meeting space for the users.
This second volume is detached from the base with a freer language. This is achieved through curves that guide the programme towards the best visuals.
The project has a second social gallery in the front, open to the street. It allows visual transparency from the living-dining room towards the central lagoon of the neighborhood, facing north.
The material constitution of the house is based on noble materials of low maintenance: a concrete structure, with volcanic stone cladding in the access, grey tundra floors, marble countertops, oak furniture and aluminum carpentry with DVH.
