From the architect: The brief was to create a high-quality, turnkey, self-contained accommodation unit for landowners. Whether nestled in rugged coastal sites or serene high-country stations, SKYPOD blends seamlessly into any natural environment with its colour and materials palette referencing the local vernacular and New Zealand’s flora and fauna.
SKYPODS have been designed to rest lightly on the land with the opportunity to have the lightest possible environmental footprint. The modules fit seamlessly into the landscape, off grid green technologies can be engaged to allow services such as potable water, electricity and wastewater to be supplied 100% off-grid. At the end of their economic life, the module footing foundations are simply unscrewed from the site, leaving it exactly as it was first found.
