From the architect: The work involved careful removal of layers, interpretation of changes made, correction of some errors and, at the same time, the surgical introduction of an elevator and new infrastructure networks. The aim was to demonstrate that it is possible to live in an old building and enjoy contemporary comforts without compromising the initial matrix.
Today we have a building constructed with original techniques and materials (wood, lime), associated with contemporary knowledge (which allowed us to re-evaluate and recover the structure and to insert modern technical requirements as if they always existed).
The apartment belongs to a couple who chose as a weekend retreat this apartment in Baixa Pombalina de Lisboa, where they can enjoy the best that the city has to offer without needing to get in the middle of the traffic, being able to get around on foot .. It was sought to create create a functional space, but above that give meaning to this space, so that the client feels comfortable and belongs to this space.
In each project we always try to create an environment with its own character. This feature is reflected in the essence of the elements present in the space: pieces of decoration, furniture, lighting, materials, colors, textures.
The environment presents elements in neutral colors, arrangement of furniture following the symmetrical balance, materials with noble finishes and textures such as wood, design pieces (as is the case of the North Suspension lamp by Israeli designer Arik Levy; chairs inspired by Charles & Ray Eames RAR chair Seat in ABS and chrome-plated steel mesh base "Eiffell Tower" and the (hanger and some replicas. And the chair inspired by Veron Panton's Panton piece, produced in ABS with finish.
