From the architect: Located in the lower garden of an existing established property, 'Garden Rake' settles into a sloping hillside overlooking Wellington's Island Bay. It is made up of two distinct forms - the lower floor bedroom container that is articulated by Macrocarpa shiplap cladding contrasted with vertical posts that extend up to form the perimeter for an upper floor roof deck, and the upper level which is a metal clad raking block that accommodates a generous open living volume connecting to a roof deck. The upper and lower levels are offset to better merge with the hillside and create a variety of outdoor spaces with views of the south coast.
