From the architect: Located on a hillside near the Itanhangá golf course in Rio de Janeiro, the house is composed of two volumes that are jointly deposited on the ground. Each of these elements rests on a band that supports it, deposited on each other they liberate the corner which facilitates the construction making the minimum possible earth movement and characterizing the building.
The point of contact between both pieces incorporates the communication core. The ground floor with the day area rises above the adjacent houses. Being a passing space, it opens the area of the pool that is located in a kind of inner courtyard and the cantilever of this element generates a sort of covered garden.
On the upper floor the studios and rooms enjoy the landscape of Rio, while the access corridor opens to the backyard, facilitating cross ventilation. The relationship between this volume and the lower one forms a covered shaded area, desirable in the pool level which in turn allows to define the access to the house. Two passing spaces arranged differently, take advantage of the best qualities of its privileged environment.
