Coblonal Interiorismo is called by a client who does not live in the city. He just bought a newly renovated apartment in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona and asked us to dress it up to the last detail.
Architect: Coblonal Interiorismo
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Year: 2018
Photography: Coblonal
From the architect: Furniture, lighting, appliances, decorative elements, bedding, bathroom, crockery, cutlery, even the full fridge. All ready to enter the door and enjoy a well-deserved vacation. And so we did.
Although on this occasion we did not have much to say in the distribution, we tried to organize the space through the furniture, even with the custom design of some pieces, getting to optimize the zoning in an open space, light and modern.
This apartment of about 82m2 has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large living room with integrated kitchen and 4 large windows that give access to a longitudinal balcony direct to the street. It is an apartment bathed in natural light which we have tried to give color to with a selection of pieces in natural tones ranging from black to coral to gray, oil blue and brown clay.
In the living room, there is the wide Mags Soft sofa by Hay, upholstered in metallic gray with cushions and plaid by Muuto, on a beautiful rug from the same firm. Behind the sofa we custom design a closed base cabinet in stained oak that serves as storage while distributing the entrance to the living room and opens a passage between the kitchen and dining room area and the main room. Both the circular coffee table, with black iron structure and black marble envelope by Gubi, as well as the TV cabinet, designed by Coblonal and made of black iron and oak veneer, confer a retro air that we love.
Completing the set, we find a quiet reading corner chaired by the iconic armchair Butterfly by Antonio Bonet of BFK in natural leather, along with a tremendous floor lamp E15 in black aluminum and marble base. Two works of the artist Jordi Cano have just characterized a privileged area of the house where the simplicity and almost provisional nature of the elements is key.
The dining area, next to a minimalist kitchen line in white, is characterized by a set formed by the dining table and four comfortable chairs of Nordic and light lines of the Danish firm Ferm Living, under an iconic hanging lamp Aim of Floss. The lighting is completed with a pair of Fluvia focus rails and the Bicoca by Marset portable lamp in the sofa area. On the wall, we find a couple of selected screenprints from Print Workers Barcelona.
We have also provided various vases, including the 3 located next to the windows or the raised flower box next to the dining room, all of them also from Ferm Living. Plants always manage to bring freshness, color and, above all, life to any scenario. In our opinion, plants are essential.
The main room is characterized by a headboard custom designed oak that becomes a support and storage in its longitudinal continuation by the wall. In suspension we have placed a bar illuminated with LEDs that offers ambient lighting to the set, as well as the obvious support to hang some items in sight. From the ceiling, but on the other side of the bed, hangs a pair of lamps with circular motifs of Northern Lighting.
The guest room reproduces a similar storage system, with a low cabinet with custom-designed drawers, this time in light gray, on which a bar with dimmable LED lighting driven remotely. The bed has two bedside tables, one of them with storage in black base with wooden drawer and wicker latch door of Maisons du Monde and another light gray color from Menu. Another piece of Print Workers Barcelona gives color to the room. Both beds are made to measure with black iron structure and wooden frame. The bedding and cushions in organic and natural colors are from Zara Home.
In all we have tried to give character and particularity to an apartment with a privileged situation with pieces and designs that reflect the good taste for beautiful things.
