From the architect: The clock is inspired by the pin art we grew up with, displaying time and information in a visually interesting and highly tactile way. The clock sculpture plays with the idea of verticality, creating an iconic presence and a landmark in Qatar for the World Cup. It appears to be growing from the ground itself and turning in a friendly gesture to face the audience and viewers. It splits into a network of tubes, resulting in a series of pins that move in and out, animating to display information and graphics. A functional sculpture as an icon for the World Cup.
